Three people outside a church in Lallibela, three diffferent reactions, three different ways.

A young boy with his sheep, thoughts of going beyond; Grandpa seems to be supporting him, he appears lucky. Their house is behind them.

    The salt route
After loading the salt on camels backs, the caravans leave, usually at sunset, to bring salt to the nearest town, Makallè, 60 Km away. It will take 4 days, along one of the last salt roads in the world.

Often, observing people, I wonder what each particular person is doing, or thinking, what he carries within himself, what he is doing, which dreams he harbors inside.

The man, who was passing through the main square of Axum fast and stealthy at sunset, in the indifference of other people, particularly impressed me.

Alem, the name of this person, means “the world”. After I photographed him by surpise, I stopped to talk with him. A world is in his heart and the world he hopes to know.

A man with his face covered, mysterious, advances in the middle of the village awakening in the early morning light. Where is he going?
