Traditions, ash or fire?
“Traditions are the safeguard of fire, not adoration of ash.” (Gustav Mahler).
A struggle between tradition and contemporaneity, between the past and the present. People’s faces portrayed during religious processions in Sardinia, Italy: women and men suspended between the past, present and future, rooted in millenarian traditions made of gestures, rhythm, music, dances and gazes. Young people and children wearing ancestors’ clothing, with the consciousness of being part of a long path that wants to affirm its future: there is no future without a past.
